Yorkies from the highway, about 300 meters west of DMM # 14.
DMM # 14 is in sight; it is right at the fork of the road ahead. We are looking NE, towards the Manila direction.
DMM # 14.This is now a fork in the road, right is the old National Rd, the Death March Road going to Cabcaben. The road left is the new Highway bypassing Cabcaben.
DMM # 14, looking back towards Mariveles or Yorkies where I started my walk.It was a very rainy day.The date of the picture is under them 071024 = 24th Oct 2007
DMM # 14, this picture was reshot on the 29th Oct 2007.
DMM # 14 is left in the pic. We are looking in the Mariveles direction. On the other side of the marker the road runs to Cabcaben, this is the new highway.
For the sections from DMM # 8 to # 18 I parked here. Yorkies is a popular Inn, run by a British expat. I also stop here for my Corregidor visits.
DMM # 14. We just passed the marker and are now walking towards Cabcaben Village on the old National Road.
DMM # 15. We are at the 90 degree bend of the road. It bends left, north, into Cabcaben proper. Right is the 'Carmen Resort' where I hire my boat going to Corregidor.
DMM # 15. Where this river goes under the old National Road is DMM # 15. This river is the Pangolisanin and it splits here in Cabcaben and two bridges are required. Up river it is called 'Real Rv.'
DMM # 15 where I'm standing is 'Pangolisanin Point. This is where I hire a boat to go to Corregidor.
DMM # 15, a last look to Corregidor. At this very spot I board the boat, it is about 100 meters from the marker.
DMM #15, the Pangolisanin River; looking up river. Closer to Mariveles this river is called the 'Real River' and I'm sure the Japanese had their artillery in this river valley.
The Pangolisanin River name on the bridge and the river's flood plain.
DMM #15. This is only the 2nd old DMM of 1968 I have come across so far. It was reshot on the 29th of Oct 2007.
DMM # 15; this pic was reshot on the 29th Oct 2007 because many of the pics from that rainy day of the 24th didn't come out too good.
DMM # 15.
DMM #15. This image tells me in 1968 these old markers were placed. But so far I only came across two.
DMM # 15 and it's sponsor.
DMM # 15. I shot this to show in this area large private lots are next to the road
DMM # 15 is in sight. I'm standing at the 90 degree bend in the road. There is the south bridge of the Pangolisanin River. The marker is just on the other side of the bridge.
Copy from an older 1:50000 map, giving you the big picture of this Cabcaben Village section and up to Lucanin Village.
2013-02-12 Near those steps in the last image is this large concrete block. It came from what explosion? It looks a little similar like the mystery concrete near the Japanese gun on the Morrison Hill slopes.
2013-02-12 Barrio San Isidro had a separate road towards the Stockade Level and crossed a small creek with this bridge between the Barrio and the Nipa Quarters.
2013-02-12 These steps go down the slope on the north side of the San Isidro Rise coming from that long walkway which runs pretty much on a north-south axis.
2013-02-12 Here is a walkway at the SE corner of the former barrio San Isidro at Fort Mills on Corregidor Island in Manila Bay
2013-02-12 These are foundations for houses at the SE corner of the former barrio San Isidro at Fort Mills on Corregidor Island in Manila Bay
2013-02-12 This is a low embankment for the road on the SE corner of barrio San Isidro near the Nipa Quarters.
This map pretty much describes what I seen so far as what is left from Barrio San Isidro and what is in this album.
2013-02-12 San Isidro is on a rise and here are some steps between the two different in height street levels. These steps are on the SE corner of barrio San Isidro near the Nipa Quarters.
2008-09-23 View from the former Barrio San Isidro Rise towards the Middleside parade grounds. The house was the former and post WWII Aviary residence and is now used by the American couple doing research and promotion for Corregidor.
2013-02-12 This embankment is along a road at the SE corner of the former San Isidro, near the Nipa Quarters.
